As an undergraduate student, Katie was on the President's and Dean's lists. She was a member of the Mortar Board Honor Society. Katie tutored athletes through the Office of Athletic Academics. She was also involved with the Club Hockey Team.
After graduating in May 2018, Katie began working on a degree in Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Mississippi State University. While in vet school, Katie tutors athletes through the Office of Athletic Academics as well as volunteers at a local veterinary clinic.
Katie said of her time with SI, "I gained a good understanding of what it means to be a leader and a role model for other students. I also discovered that I have a passion for teaching others, and I would love to be a teacher at a vet school someday. The most rewarding part of SI was being able to help students learn how to teach themselves and to be confident in their abilities. The best part of my job was seeing students who were struggling turn their whole semester around and end up helping others in their class!"
