Hometown: Richland, MS
During her undergraduate career, Kari was a member of MSU Fashion Board and Phi Kappa Phi. She played intramural softball and soccer. Kari received the Outstanding Student Intern Award and was a Stephen D. Lee Scholar- achieving a cumulative 4.0 grade point average during her undergraduate career.
After graduating in May 2019, Kari began teaching Social Studies and coaching cheerleaders at Pearl Junior High School.
Kari said of her time with SI, "As an education major, being an SI Leader gave me valuable experience in helping students be successful. I am thankful for the opportunity the SI program gave me to practice planning activities for students, helping them understand content, and teaching them ways to improve their academic performance. What I found most rewarding was having students who consistently came to sessions. Because these sessions were voluntary, having those few consistent students reassured me that the sessions were helpful to students and that the SI program was effective in giving students that extra support they needed."
