What do you enjoy about working with the SI program and/or having a class with an SI Leader?
I believe the SI program is a great benefit for my students in larger class sizes. Students can have a smaller group instruction and can gain a different perspective on the same topics discussed in class. Having a class with an SI Leader allows the students to get to know the leader and to feel comfortable with asking questions in the smaller group where it often is more intimidating in larger classes.
What would you say to students who are trying to figure out whether or not to go to SI Sessions?
I highly recommend attending SI Sessions! Even if you do not have many questions, you will meet other students in your class that might have similar questions. SI Sessions have proven to be helpful for a majority of my students, and I believe it is a wonderful resource for all of my students.
What would you say to a faculty member or department who is interested in having SI?
SI Sessions are a great benefit for the courses with large class sizes. Students have the ability to ask questions of their SI Leader or other classmates. This smaller instruction allows for time in my office hours to be dedicated to a few, rather than the many that might attend that time.
